Review: Rips through mud and trails
I began my transition to minimalist running about 7 months ago. Went at it far too fast and paid the price with minor foot injuries. Peregrine 2 is a great choice for a mid-transition trail shoe. I like having some extra cushion-- I think this will be where I stop.
The shoes run true to size and are light. The weight can't compete with Inov8s and other minimals, but when I'm plowing through mud and water, I can't tell the difference in shoe weight anyway. The toe box is typical--personally, I'd like it a little wider, but this is comfortable. To loosen the fit a bit, try running the laces up the same side for the first couple of loops before cross-threading them. I run with two pairs of thin socks without issue.
The shoe drains very well and the tongue is stitched to the shoe to minimize debris getting inside. I have raced two long mud-run/obsticle courses and the aggressive tread just chews up mud and spits it out. Doesn't matter if it's down hill,...
